5 Ways to Protect Your Watch While Hiking, Camping and Training

Hiking, camping and training are where smartwatches earn their keep, and where they get scratched. These five habits will keep yours in good shape.

1. Use a full-body cover

Rocks, trekking poles, barbells and kettlebells all find your wrist. A protective cover wraps the whole watch, not just the screen. SANSOLID covers fit watches up to 49mm.

2. Choose protection that does not slow you down

Pick a cover that goes on without tools and lets you keep your own band. Comfortable neoprene is a great fit for long days on your feet.

3. Keep sensors working

Make sure the cover has a sensor cutout, so heart-rate and health tracking continue during workouts and hikes.

4. Watch where your wrist goes

Be mindful when climbing, scrambling or racking weights. A quick habit of turning your wrist away from rock and metal helps a lot.

5. Clean up after each trip

Wipe off dirt, sweat and grit at the end of the day so it does not build up and scratch.

Which cover for which activity?

For everyday training and hiking, flexible neoprene is usually enough. For rough terrain and heavy use, consider Heavy Duty. Compare them on the Classic vs. Heavy Duty page, check your model in the Watch Fit Guide, and shop by use.
